Dr. Maureen Zelinka was raised in Hollywood, Florida and became a Registered Nurse in 1970. After a short stent as a nurse, and a drive to continue her education in the medical field, she went back to school to earn her Medical degree in 1984 and finished her residency in 1987 in Internal Medicine.
Her career lead her to a position at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Fort Pierce, FL where she practiced Emergency Medicine and soon became Co-director of the emergency room at the Medical Center.
After several years of working as a hospitalist, Dr. Zelinka opened her private Internal Medicine practice, building and treating patients, eventually bringing on a partner to extend services to Family Medicine. This office now serves the Tri-County area offering services in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine and a walk-in Medical Care Center for patients seeking immediate care. Dr. Zelinka is the standing director of American Jet Ambulance based out of the Fort Pierce International Airport, and is the current Department Chief of Medicine at Lawnwood Regional Trauma and Medical Center.
